Day 4 - The climb to see Pinnacles

We had early breakfast at Camp 5, simple fried egg, toast, sausages & baked beans. After that we did some warm ups ready for the climb ahead; we start at 6:30am and walk slowly. We began to ascent a steep slope of  of jagged rocks. As the slope increased, we sweat profusely! Following the trees marked with red & white paint, it's all well sign every 100 meters as we climb.

We slowly make our way up and when we reach 900 meters where the mini pinnacles is, it was steeper as we keep going, some parts need to climb by grabbing the trees vines! When we reach at 2000m, that's the first ladder section, we glad that we all made it up by 10:30am, because if we can't make it by 11:00am at the 1st ladder section, then we have to turn back. The last 400 meters the terrain turned into limestone cliffs only navigable by using fixed ropes and ladders. Some part feels like free climb rock climbing!

About 3-4 hours climb, the last 400 meters, we saw Pitcher plants. These tube-shaped trap contains a fluid that the plant makes and is used to drown the prey!

When we reach the top wwe had our lunch box of sandwiches. The squirrel came, they were very cute!
The view is like the rock outcropping that overlooked like a valley of amazing needles like limestone pinnacles from the green rainforest below.

The view is stunning and breath taking...

As we reluctantly slowly decent, that is the hardest part because it was steep and have to look for our own steps. We all made it down safely to Camp 5 in four hours, except for one person in the group he made it down using his head torch in the dark with the guide John.
Thank you John for his big help! At night, they cooked us, local vegetable fern 'paku pakis', long beans, beef curry & steam rice. The local fern is the group's favourite dish.
