Day 2 - Boat ride to Mulu National Park

Early morning! We took taxi and had our breakfast near the Kuala Berang jetty: simple fried rice 'Nasi Goreng' and 'Mee Goreng' Fried Noodles. We bought some 'Pisang Goreng' Fried Bananas and the group try it, they loved it! Sedap! Sedap!

At 8:00am we get on the 1st express boat that look like a space ship to Marudi. The river that we using is Baram river, Baram River is the 2nd longest River in Sarawak.  On our boat ride, we saw lot's of logging going on. Despite the many opportunity for employment in the logging industry, this local resistance has results in timber blockades and clashes with logging companies as well as the government since the late 1980's

When we reach Marudi, a small town for the local and villages to get their goods and supplies from, which is also a lunch stop for us. We went to a local Chinese Restaurant, have some 'Wan Tan Mee'  - dried Chinese noodles with Chines dumpling and 'Curry Laksa' - spicy coconut noodle soup. Near the Jetty there is a small Chinese Temple that is over 100 years old.

After lunch, we took 2nd express boat to Long Terrawan, and we get off at Kuala Tutoh, a small local village. While we were waiting for our 3rd long boat to arrive, we saw 2 young boys playing with few toads, without knowing where the boys collect the toads and they put in a small plastic bag and put it back to the river. Some kids were playing and swimming in the river, while one of the boys is jumping and playing in the mud.

On our way to Mulu National Park, it was pouring rain, but it did stop after a while and we managed to see some beautiful fire flies in the dark before arriving at Mulu National Park.
